Section Exchange
Registration week as a trading floor: clash pairs trade, blocked demand rings the bell.
The job
During registration and add/drop, turn complaints about closed sections and timetable clashes into section decisions within hours, show the retention money at stake when students cannot get required courses, and prove the blocked demand cleared.
The moment
MATH101 flashes red at 10:15 on day one: +340 blocked. The order book shows it chained to PHYS110; the registrar slides MATH101 section 7 from 10:00 to 13:00 and the chain snaps, 212 voiced clashes unblocked. The department head approves from a corridor on Teams, and at 13:40 the bell rings: SECTION 7 OPENED, 38 SEATS. Next morning the MATH101 line is down 81%, and the retention strip shows 64 final-year students no longer at risk of a delayed graduation.
What it does

- Tell blocked students the section opened
- Log the bell by hand
- Send the standing clash list
- Open blocked-student verbatims
What you see

What it moves
Blocked students cleared within 48 hours of a section decision, and final-year students at graduation-delay risk (with tuition at stake)
