Turns near-misses customers describe, like almost slipping or a lift dropping a floor, into an early safety warning for each site and spot. It fixes each site's top hazard, proves near-misses fall and prices the injuries and claims avoided.
The moment
Near-misses that customers mention are plotted on a floor plan of the site. At one branch, 47 footprints gather around the fountain, from comments like "I almost slipped at the fountain". No one has been hurt yet.
The fix goes out: anti-slip mats, a sign and a new mopping schedule.
Six weeks later the footprints have faded to 4, and the base of the safety pyramid, where near-misses sit below real injuries, has thinned.
Based on 19 records in this site's log, an estimated 2 slip claims were avoided. The safety lead says: "Our customers did the safety walk for us."
