Boycott Barometer
Split a boycott storm into logo, kitchen and wrong list; prove the thaw.
The job
Keeps a steady baseline of boycott pressure so a wave is seen early. When one hits, it shows how much targets the global parent, the local service or confusion, answers questions truthfully, fixes real local faults and proves, region by region, when customers return.
The moment
In week two of a boycott wave, the franchise CEO sees it split three ways: 71% aimed at the global brand, 18% at a forwarded list, and 7% at the kitchen.
The list wrongly named the group's own homegrown sauce brand as foreign, and spread from one region to three in four days. A factual answer goes live that evening.
Inside the 7%, the storm had been hiding a cluster of cold-food and late-order complaints in one city. The fix there is confirmed in ten days.
The next week the storm recedes on the map, and "who owns you?" contacts halve.
Fourteen weeks later the West has thawed, with 1.8 times as many mentions of coming back as leaving. The capital is thawing and the East is still frozen.
What it does
- Take the weekly calm-weather reading
- Declare a storm and pre-register its thaw rule
- Route kitchen clusters to regional ops
- Send legal the facts-pack draft
- Brief store and rider teams
- Reply respectfully to direct contacts only
- Tell kitchen complainants once their fix verifies
- Send the regional thaw sheet
- Compare with the organisation's own transaction data (optional)
What you see
A weather map of boycott pressure by region, a three-way storm split, a wrong-list tracer that replays a misinformation front receding, and a region-by-region thaw sheet.
What it moves
Regions where customers returned after each storm, checked against brands that weren't targeted, and the share of confusion from wrong lists cleared by the factual answer.
